Tarifa
Tarifa, situated in Andalusia on the Costa de la Luz, impresses its visitors principally because of its geographical location. This small town with 18000 inhabitants, is nestled at the most southern point of Continental Europe, uniting two main seas, the Mediterranean to the east and the Atlantic to the west. The view to the African continent on clear days is absolutely magnificent. There is a fast ferry leaving several times a day from Tarifa to Tangiers. Tarifa also has a picturesque fishing port which is located near the centre of town.
Tarifa's fascination lies in the vastness of its horizons and the brightness of the light, which gives the name to the coastline. Most visitors are attracted by the long, sandy beaches. We would also like to highlight the beauty of the countryside with its rare cork oak forests and Mediterranean stone pine forests - a pleasant surprise for hikers and mountain bikers.
Tarifa has two colourful cultures: one is the traditional Spanish side and the other is the sporty side which has made Tarifa a Mecca for outdoor activities.
Tarifa is 170 km from Málaga, 130 km from Jerez de la Frontera, 100 km from Cádiz and 50 km from Gibraltar.
The most convenient airports for Tarifa are Málaga and Jerez de la Frontera. Both towns have good bus connections to Tarifa ( bus timetable Málaga-Tarifa, bus timetable Jerez-Tarifa). In Málaga reasonably priced car rental is offered. On request, we can also organise a private transfer from the airports to and from Tarifa.
Further options are via Sevilla (200 km from Tarifa) or Gibraltar (also from Madrid) with connections to Tarifa by bus or our pick-up service.
Travellers who travel by train should go to Algeciras and continue either by bus or our private transfer to Tarifa.
